People are people, and boy oh boy what a mélange of misfits and mudslingers we are! Now, I thought I’ve seen it all when it comes to reality television, but never in a million years did I think I’d see the day where we could tune into a half-hour program about Internet defamation.

Online defamation is becoming an international epidemic!
Politicians over in England and Wales are now looking to inject safeguards into their countries’ defamation legislation, as a means to protect website operators from being intimidation-sued by large corporations with deep pockets. Moreover, parliamentarians hope to provide a more structured way for citizens to get defamatory content removed from the Internet.
Recent statistics made public by Sweet and Maxwell reveal that the number of online defamation lawsuits doubled between 2010 and 2011. Analysts surmise the rise in cyberlibel is directly correlated to the rise in online social networking sites, like Facebook and Google+.

I first noticed it around 7:30 am aftering checking a site I’ve been pushing up in the rankings for a client. I realized that the familiar tagline of RipOffReport wasn’t there at #6; I searched the second page and there it was.
